Yala Peak

Yala peak climbing  is the practical climbing peak in the Langtang region, the north of Kathmandu. It is combined with wonderful Langtang Valley trekking. Yala Peak Climbing is a picturesque and superb trip. It provides the wonderful views of Himalayan ranges of the Manaslu range, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Naya Kang, Ganesh Himal range, Shishapangma and Gangchempo (6388m). Yala peak is situated closer to the Tibetan border following the ridge of high mountains.

The mountaineering trip to Yala Peak climbing goes through the Langtang National Park. It is prosperous with natural scenes, stunning landscapes, red blooming rhododendron along with Snow Leopard and Red Panda in the fauna. The views of Langtang Valley is regarded as the most beautiful views in the world. Before starting expedition sports, climbers prefer to go to Kyanjin Monastery (3900m), a popular Buddhists pilgrimage spot to adapt to the high climate. The hike around the surrounding geography into the high part of Langtang is fruitful to acclimatize at the high altitude.

The camp lies at Yala Kharka (4600m) on the Yak grazing meadow. The Yala peak climbing guide informs all about the technical and challenging aspect of the climbing along with the use of climbing gears.

Later you will be accompained by the office staff for a short tour of Thamel to make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money changer and other necessary places you might need during your stay in Thamel.

The very next morning, after breakfast you will leave for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. You can visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, very ancient and essentially enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath and the fine arts and historical architecture of Kathmandu Durbar Square reflecting the ancient Nepalese culture which is the highlights of our guided tour. A visit to Patan City will enchant you with its famous fine arts and historical architecture. On return to your hotel, you will have time to explore the local area, have dinner and perhaps take a leisurely stroll through the famous streets. Finally, day ends with a Authentic Nepalese Dinner in Nepali Cultural Restaurant.

We spend a day preparing the final documents, gears & equipment check and so on. You can go for final shopping if something is missed before leaving out for the mountain.

To avoid traffic we will move early in the morning to Syabrubesi. We will pass through beautiful sceneries of green lush hills, occasional sight of the snow-covered mountains along with some of the fastest flowing rivers of Nepal. Syabrubesi is the starting point of most of the treks and expeditions in the Langtang region so you can prepare for the trek and shop for any necessary trekking equipment. Overnight in Syabrubesi.

Walking alongside the Langtang River, we will slowly ascend to Lama Hotel. We will be crossing small quaint Tamang villages with beautiful stone houses and get the first glimpse of the Himalayas. The occasional prayer flags fluttering against the wind on the backdrop of the village look beautiful and provide great opportunities at photography.  Overnight in Lama Hotel.

Known for its rich flora fauna, this region offers plenty of beauty as we make our way to Langtang village. We will pass through Gumanechowk and Ghodatabela before reaching Langtang village. We will cross many small waterfalls and streams, lush meadow before reaching Langtang village from where we will get a view of the Langtang range. Overnight in Langtang Village.

Of great significance to the residents of this area, the Kyanjin Gompa looks beautiful against the backdrop of grey and white. The Buddhist influence so omnipresent we can see many prayer flags fluttering against the prayer wheel and the small prayer houses that people have built. You can also get views of Langtang Lirung (7227m) and Langtang II (6596m) from the village. Overnight in Kyanjin Gompa.

For acclimatization today we will hike up to Tserko Ri (4984m).  Through various pastures where yaks can be seen grazing, the sunrise from Tserko Ri is breathtaking. From a height of 4984m, it offers a wonderful view of the valley below and gives a panoramic view of Langtang (7,227m), Yala (5,500m), Shishapangma (8,013) and Dorje Lakpa (6,966m). It is a great time to take some beautiful pictures and after some exploration return back to Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight in Kyanjin Gompa.

We trek along a rocky glacier trail to reach the Yala Base Camp. From the base camp we get astounding views of Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri, and Yala Peak. After reaching the base camp, our climbing guides will conduct a basic training on climbing techniques including the best way to use climbing gears such as ropes, ice pick, harness and crampons. Overnight in Yala Peak Base Camp.

We start our summit to Yala Peak early in the morning. From the summit we get panoramic views of the mighty Himalayas including Shishapangma, Dorje Lakpa, Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri, Langtang Lirung and others. After spending some time at the summit, we head back to the base camp. Overnight in Yala Base Camp.

We retrace our steps to the Langtang village.

Again we take a relatively familiar route, through woods and along the river valley passing Bamboo Lodge, where we join an uphill trail which will lead us to the Sherpa village of Thulo Syabru. Overnight in Thulo Syabru.

Today we get to enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the Himalayas including the Annapurnas, Hiunchuli, Manaslu, Ganesh and Langtang. We follow a ridge for most part of the day and catch a glimpse of the first of the holy lakes. The third lake, Gosaikunda (4380m), is of particular religious and cultural significance for the Nepalese and is one of Nepal’s most sought after pilgrimage sites. The lake is surrounded by mountains on almost all sides and has a great ensemble of nine other lakes to accompany it. Every year during Janai Purnima in August, hundreds of Hindu pilgrims visit the lake for a holy bath. The large rock at the center of the lake is said to be the remains of a Shiva shrine. Overnight in Gosaikunda.

We move around the lake’s shore before ascending towards the Laurebina Pass (4610m). The Helambu region begins at the Lauribina La (pass) and descends to the Melamchi valley. The trail is rough and crosses moraines, but is well marked with cairns. We pass through three more small lakes before reaching the pass. We climb a small hill and enjoy excellent views of the area. Our trail passes through Suryakunda, Ghopte and forests before reaching Tharepati. Overnight in Tharepati.

Today we leave from Tharapati to Timbu which will be our last walk as we will be driving from Timbu. We descend through lush rhododendron forests and pass several chortens and mani walls before reaching Timbu. The village is well cultivated and beautiful. Overnight in Timbu.

From Timbu we drive to Kathmandu enjoying the changing landscape of Nepal. After reaching Kathmandu, we check-in to our hotel and freshen up and take a rest.

Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. You can ask your guide to take you on a sightseeing trip inside Kathmandu Valley. On this day you can go to the various museums around the valley including the Narayanhiti Museum which earlier used to be the residence of the last king of Nepal. You may also go to the hilltop of Nagarkot. After some sightseeing around the world heritage sites in the valley, you will have a farewell dinner and enjoy with your Nepali friends and guide. You might even make plans for extending your stay for Chitwan jungle safari, rafting activities, and more with your guide.

Finally it’s SEE OFF TIME. There is nothing to do but trade emails with your travel companions and organize your photos. You will be picked from Hotel by representatives of Wongchhu Peak Promotion staff and dropped at Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours earlier than your flight time with a hope to see you again. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
